Cirque du Soleil: Florida resident tickets available for $50

Florida residents can now purchase tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s “La Nouba” at Downtown Disney for $50. The deal is good for performances between now and Oct. 23, 2010. It applies to the theater’s Category 2 seats, which typically sell for $85 and are primarily in the upper bowl or on the ends of the lower section. Purchases are limited to six seats.

“La Nouba” has showtimes at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.

The production has made a few changes this year. In January, a juggling act by Anthony Gatto was introduced. More recently, an elaborate jump rope segment featuring the house troupe replaced the German wheel act.

“The skipping ropes act brings a new dimension and high energy to the opening of the show,” says artistic director Denise Biggs. “The speed of their movements is truly unbelievable.”

For tickets, call 407-939-7328 or go to www.cirquedusoleil.com/lanouba or the box office at the plaza level of the theater.

Toy Story Playland Open!!!

Today is a big day at Disneyland Paris, where we welcomed our latest addition to Walt Disney Studios Park – Toy Story Playland.

Thanks to the creative minds of Pixar Studios and Disney Imagineers, Guests of all ages can now feel what it’s like to be shrunk to the size of a toy and to become literally part of the Toy Story universe in Andy’s backyard.

Guests venturing through the over-sized landscaping of Andy’s yard discover three play areas, each featuring an exclusive attraction. With Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, Guests are invited to join Andy’s Little Green Army Men in a simulated fall from the sky. Guests of all ages can climb aboard Slinky Dog on Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin as our four legged friend chases his tail. And in Andy’s most dare-deviling set up, RC Racer will give a feel for what it’s like to zoom along a Hot Wheels half-pipe track.

Introduced as part of the year-long Disney new generation festival, Toy Story Playland expands the park’s Toon Studio, where guests can already enjoy attractions inspired by Disney●Pixar blockbusters Finding Nemo and Cars.

Neil said that when he first saw “World of Color” the week it opened, he was absolutely amazed by the show, adding that he never realized that water could be so dramatic.

He summed it up in one word: “Brilliant!”

Dumbo's 55th Birthday in Disneyland.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant is like Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is so iconic that when you see it, you know you’re looking at some place inside Disneyland park. It’s one of the classics, dating back 55 years ago. In fact, it debuted almost exactly a month after opening day on August 16, 1955. The 16 happy, grey elephants — inspired by Walt Disney’s 1941 animated film — are “piloted” by guests. These baby pachyderms can fly as high as 17 feet! Did you know that the Dumbo attraction is also at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World (1971), Tokyo Disneyland (1983), Disneyland Paris (1992) and Hong Kong Disneyland (2005). Here’s another fun fact: When President Harry S Truman (a staunch Democrat) visited the park in 1957, he playfully refused to ride Dumbo because of the Republican symbolism associated with the elephant-themed attraction. Enjoy this historical footage of our famous flying elephants.

Darth Vader vs Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones vs. Darth Vader
Here’s something you’ve never seen before and may never see again – a lightsaber battle between two of Hollywood’s most famous film characters, Indiana Jones and Darth Vader. The face-to-face meeting was part of the “The Last Tour to Endor” event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for fans attending this week’s Star WarsCelebration V in Orlando, Florida.

Walt Disney Creative Entertainment created the special show, which featured Star Wars characters like Darth Vader making one-night-only appearances in the park’s “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular”.
